Long-Range Plan Update: PSD hires facilitator, new video series

In this update about PSD’s Long-Range Planning efforts, you will find the first episode of a new video series and information about the firm hired to facilitate the Facilities Steering Planning Committee.

New ‘Understanding PSD’ video series

Introducing “Understanding PSD,” a new video series designed to help educate you about PSD. In this series, you’ll hear from Superintendent Brian Kingsley and members of the district leadership team about topics like:

  • What is PSD’s student enrollment history and what do enrollment forecasts tell us about the future?
  • What’s next for us regarding our long-range plan?
  • How is PSD funded?
  • What challenges are we working to address?

Additional episodes will be released after the winter break.

Announcing PSD's external facilitator

The district has hired the Institute for the Built Environment at Colorado State University (IBE) to facilitate the Facilities Planning Steering Committee. The organization structures, guides, and facilitates collaborative processes that focus on place-based sustainability, climate transitions, and equity.

The Institute for the Built Environment team will facilitate the committee that will be formed and charged with making a recommendation about educational program placements, school consolidations, and boundary changes to the superintendent, district leadership, and the PSD Board of Education by May 2024. No changes will go into effect before the 2025-26 school year.

We anticipate announcing how stakeholders can apply to be part of the committee next week. All members of the community will be able to participate in the process by sharing ideas, concerns, and other feedback in listening sessions that are currently scheduled for March 2024. A full schedule will be posted on the Long-Range Planning web section at www.psdschools.org/long-range-planning.

Through a competitive process, PSD contracted services from the Institute for the Built Environment because it is an external, third-party organization with the capacity to facilitate engagement for significant community issues and projects. Staff also felt there was a benefit in working with a local organization that has context around the uniqueness of our communities – within PSD and Northern Colorado.
