Online Education

Poudre School District Global Academy (PGA) offers students two different learning models - a hybrid path and virtual path.

Poudre Global Academy

Hybrid Path for K-12 Students

  • This learning model is defined by attending class on campus two days per week for in-person learning and spending three days per week learning independently of their teachers (asynchronous) at home with their learning coach (generally a parent or guardian) as their instructor or support.
  • Students need a designated adult (learning coach) at home to partner with their teachers and support their learning. The time commitment needed for this partnership varies based on the age of the student and their readiness for online learning. It can vary from a few hours a week for an older and more independent student, to full-time school days for younger students or those who are not as ready for the independence of online learning.
  • Students need internet access at their residence.

Virtual Path for Grades 8-12

  • This learning model is 100% virtual and includes both synchronous learning (learning together with other students and the teacher) and asynchronous learning (independent of teachers) at home with their learning coach as their guide.
  • Students are required to come to campus for some activities such as orientation and state standardized  testing.
  • Students need a designated adult (learning coach) at home to partner with their teacher and support their learning. The time commitment for this partnership varies based on the age of the child and their readiness for online learning.  It can vary from a few hours a week for an older and more independent student, to full-time school days for younger students or those who are not as ready for the independence of online learning.
  • Students need internet access at their residence.

Students receive the best of both worlds: real-time instruction from teachers with classmates and the flexibility allowed by working on classwork online. Students also have the opportunity to participate in clubs, Student Council, and extracurricular activities at PGA while participating in sports and other extracurricular activities through their neighborhood school.

PSD Global Academy may be a good fit for your student if:

  • You are interested in being directly involved with their day-to-day education
  • You need the flexibility of not needing to be learning in-person five days per week
  • They learn best through small class sizes and increased one-on-one instructional time
  • You are looking for a mastery-based program
  • They are a high school student who wants to earn their diploma, but also have a job or participate in an activity that requires flexible scheduling
